Caramoan dreaming

For the last three years, I've been dreaming of setting foot on this very remote island, climbing the rock formations, having a blast on its very still and very clear water, shooting until my batteries and memory card give up and enjoying the beach with its fine sand to my heart's content.

Since the arrival of a P200-million development plan and the media mileage it gained from Survivor France and GMA-7, I don't know if the scenes I am dreaming of will still be the same. Cavanas have already been built and even before I can call it my own, commercialization had begun.

Sigh, but I still want to go there and I will go there.

Surprising isn't it? That there are pretty islands like that here in Luzon, and easily accessible too. You know that my Mom's from Bicol, right? Well even she was surprised that there are places like that in the province.

Oi! Pag pupunta ka sama mo ang mga blogger prens mo ha? :-D

and that place is located in the bikol region where i am from. i wonder if there are lots available for sale?

It would be a real shame if that pristine island falls 'prey' to commercialization. Sana naman , hindi , and the government will take measures to keep it that way.

This place is very beautiful! Inggit ako. Hmmm.... (Isip ng budget para pamasahe and accomodations and chibog.)

belle, it just goes on to prove that fine, white sand and crystal clear blue water is not limited to boracay, there are a lot that are just waiting to be discovered.

atticus, minsan dahil sa mga iresponsableng turista, gusto kong maging selfish at wag i-share yung ibang napupuntahan ko hehehe.

gina, according to the local and provincial government in camarines sur, they want caramoan to be the boracay of luzon but without the overdevelopment, commercialization and garbage and the tourism boom will be felt - in a good way - by the locals. maganda yung plano nila, sana lang masunod.

panaderos, di ko pa sya nararating, at katulad mo, naiinggit din ako sa mga nakapasyal na rito. waaah

abaniko, true, why go outside pinas when we have a lot di ba?

zherwin said...

the suspect, you'll be surprised that there are beaches here in the philippines which are better than boracay, and the best part: not commercialized.

thanks for the visit.

Hi Zherwin,

You are right. There are still so many beaches that are much better than boracay. I was so disappointed in Boracay when we went there last April. It really broke my heart. Unfortunately, for a lot of Filipinos "development" means buiding big, ugly concrete structures. =( I hope they won't do that in Caramoan.

Cheers!
Cathy

For some reason, I have to agree on the development side on a certain degree. Last time I was there, the roads where really hard to traverse. Cguro kelangan nilang ayusin yun and develop the roadside mountain as well. The transportation could also use an upgrade, the trykes there are so basic as in "BASIC" parang side car. And most importantly the "Bantay Dagat"

It was sad that last time I went there I could actually hear dynamite fishing not so distant from one of the islands. Some of the corals were heavily damaged. If they get some funds, I hope they spend as well on protection of the reefs there.

So I'm in for development, but on a scale that would not spoil the island.

ferdz, i hope they can make Palawan as their model. There is really no problem with development so long that they don't touch or disturb the natural beauty of the place.
